For Traveling Patients
A significant number of our patients travel from a number of locations throughout the United States and worldwide. Patients staying overnight for surgery or a consultation can refer to our list of hotels and restaurants in the White Plains area.
Why Patients Travel to Our Practice
Dr. Blau has performed more than 10,000 gynecomastia surgeries over a career spanning more than 30 years and is recognized internationally as a leading authority on male breast reduction. Dr. Zellner is a board-certified plastic surgeon with expertise in facial aesthetics, rhinoplasty, breast surgery, body contouring, and reconstructive procedures. Together, they offer you access to a wide range of surgical options in a single practice.
Our patients come from throughout the Tri-state area (including New York City, Upstate New York, the Hudson Valley, Connecticut, and New Jersey), from states across the country, and from countries including England, France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Japan, China, Canada, and nations throughout the Middle East.
Our patient base includes models, actors, physicians, surgeons, bodybuilders, politicians, military and law enforcement professionals, and men and women from all walks of life. Many of our patients come to us after being referred by other physicians, surgeons, or former patients.
Remote Consultations
If you are located outside the White Plains area, we offer remote consultations to get the process started without requiring you to travel for an initial visit. Depending on the procedure you are considering, we may ask you to submit photographs (frontal, side, and three-quarter views) for review. Once we have reviewed your photos, we will schedule a phone or video consultation to discuss your condition, your goals, your surgical options, and what to expect.
Because we treat a high volume of out-of-town patients, remote consultations are a routine part of how we work. This process ensures that you have a clear understanding of your procedure and are fully prepared before traveling to White Plains.
Preparing for Your Surgery
Before your procedure, we will send you an individualized booklet of pre-surgery instructions. This booklet is mailed or emailed in advance so you can prepare before arriving. It covers guidelines for medications, dietary recommendations, and what to expect on the day of surgery. If you have questions at any point during your preparation, our staff is available by phone to help.
What to Expect During Your Stay
If you are traveling from out of town, you should plan to stay in the Westchester County area for approximately five days. During this time, your surgeon will typically see you multiple times to check on your healing and answer any questions.
Your stay will generally include a pre-operative appointment, the surgical procedure itself (performed in our JCAHO-accredited office-based surgical facility), and several follow-up visits in the days after surgery. This schedule gives your surgeon the opportunity to oversee your early recovery in person and confirm that everything is progressing well.
Accommodations and the Westchester Area
Westchester County is a beautiful area with a wide selection of hotels and lodging options. Our office staff is familiar with local accommodations and happy to help you find a comfortable place to stay near the office.
If you are feeling up to it during your recovery, Westchester offers dining, shopping, and scenic attractions. New York City is also a 30-minute ride away on the Metro-North Railroad, giving you easy access to Manhattan.
Our Commitment to You
Dr. Blau and Dr. Zellner treat patients from a wide range of backgrounds, locations, and clinical situations, from mild to complex cases, and across all age groups. Traveling patients receive the same standard of care, attentiveness, and follow-through that has defined our practice for over three decades.
Our office team, led by office manager Mary Ann, is here to help with scheduling, logistics, and any questions that come up before, during, or after your visit. We know that traveling for surgery takes planning, and we want to make that process as straightforward as possible.
