About Body Lift
Body lift, belt lipectomy, and body reshaping refer to cosmetic plastic surgery for more than one area of the body. Those areas may include liposuction, liposculpture or excision of the following areas: stomach, breast, arms, back and thighs. This surgery is frequently used after a massive loss of body weight resulting from either diet or bariatric surgery. In a body lift each procedure may be performed separately or several procedures may be performed at the same time, depending upon the health of the patient, tolerance of discomfort, etc. Recently body lift procedures have become extremely popular due to the fact that surgeons have acquired significantly greater knowledge and experience in liposuction, abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), thigh lift, and upper arm lift.
Also there is an increased public awareness of this kind of “extreme body makeover” surgery. There are now investigations underway to determine if surgical removal of large amounts of fat may improve such conditions as diabetes and high blood pressure.
As with all cosmetic surgery, results will be more rewarding if expectations are realistic. As with any surgery, there are some risks which your doctor will discuss with you.
