Dr. Mordcai Blau is a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 30 years of experience in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. He has dedicated the majority of his career to the surgical treatment of gynecomastia (male breast reduction), and this specialization has defined his practice. When you choose Dr. Blau as your surgeon, you are working with one of the most experienced gynecomastia specialists in the world.
Dr. Blau earned his Medical Degree from the University of Tel-Aviv (Sackler School of Medicine) in 1973. He completed his internship and residency in both General Surgery and Plastic Surgery at Albert Einstein Medical School in New York. Following his training, he instructed medical students in the anatomy labs at Albert Einstein Medical College and New York Medical College.
He is certified by the American Board of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, which is the only organization recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties to certify plastic surgeons. He has held this certification for over three decades. He is also a Diplomate of the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and formerly served as Chief of Plastic Surgery at the Westchester Ambulatory Surgical Center, where he oversaw approximately 100 surgeons.
Dr. Blau’s approach to gynecomastia surgery is rooted in precision and individualized treatment planning. In approximately two-thirds of gynecomastia cases, liposuction alone cannot achieve the desired result. For this reason, he developed the Natural Blend Technique, which combines precise glandular excision with targeted liposuction to produce natural, masculine chest contours tailored to each patient’s anatomy.
He treats all forms of gynecomastia, from mild to severe, and routinely handles revision cases for patients who have had unsatisfactory results with other surgeons. He also has extensive experience working with the specific anatomical considerations presented by bodybuilders and athletes.
Dr. Blau updates his training several times each year through advanced courses offered by leading universities, including Harvard, UCLA, and NYU. He regularly attends national and regional seminars, conventions, and continuing education programs to ensure his techniques reflect current advancements in the field.
Outside of surgery, Dr. Blau is an active painter and sculptor. He works in oils, watercolors, and sculpture, and his collections have been exhibited in San Francisco, New York, and in Europe. Several of his pieces are displayed in our office reception area for patients and visitors to enjoy.
His artistic abilities earned him a lifetime membership at the Rubén Darío Cultural Institute in White Plains, New York, a distinction awarded to only a select few. Dr. Blau sees a close connection between artistry and surgery. The same attention to form, proportion, and detail that goes into a painting or sculpture informs the way he approaches every procedure.
Dr. Blau’s family has a rich artistic heritage spanning multiple generations. His son Gabriel won the Gold New York State award and Gold National Award in computer graphic art at the age of fifteen, competing against 22,000 contestants. Gabriel was named artist of the month in Scholastic Magazine and had his work exhibited at the Corcoran Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and the New York State Museum in Albany. Dr. Blau’s daughter, Tamar, is a gifted photographer, and his youngest son, Danny, pursues computer graphics.
Dr. Blau has been honored by the Westchester County Medical Society for dedicated service to patients and the medical profession. The Consumer’s Research Council of America selected him for inclusion on its America’s Top Surgeons list. Yeshiva University recognized him as a respected community leader for devoted service to the public. His work has been featured in Plastic Surgery News, Plastic Surgery Products, Muscular Development, and other industry and mainstream publications.
