This is a 23-year-old Westchester, New York patient who is 6′0 and weighs 212 pounds. He had been suffering from Congenital Gynecomastia since childhood. Gynecomastia can commonly affect 65% of adolescent boys beginning between the ages of 8 and 12, and although a milder condition will often reduce after a few years, in more severe cases, such as with this patient, it will not go away after maturity. The young man felt very self-conscious about the appearance of his chest and did not like removing his shirt in public places.
