Post-Op Gynecomastia in Adolescents Photos: 1 Year
This 17-year-old teenager from Westchester County, NY was unhappy that his gynecomastia, which has developed during early puberty, had not started regressing as his got older. Typically tubular or severe cases, as can be seen in the above photos, do not resolve on thier own (mild cases may dissolve by age17). It began to interfere at school when he was asked to participate in activities that involved removing his shirt. He and his parents learned that adolescent gynecomastia affects many young boys starting around 8 to 12 years of age. Surgery included an excision of the head and tail of the glandular tissue followed by liposculpture. The 1-inch incision is hidden in an inconspicuous area below the areola.
