Breast lift surgery or Mastopexy is designed to raise, reshape and firm breasts that have sagged due to the effects of pregnancy, aging or the forces of gravity. In some instances, women who want to enlarge their breast size will choose breast augmentation (breast implants) in conjunction with a breast lift. This will be discussed at length during consultation.
Breast lift surgery is performed in our office surgical facility. The process lasts approximately two hours. Excess breast tissue is removed and the remaining tissue and the nipple-areola complex are repositioned.
Mastopexy may cause temporary bruising and swelling with some discomfort. Any pain can be alleviated with medication. You will be advised to wear a bra (day and night) for the first month. Stitches will be removed within two weeks. Breast lift scars will be visible, but will probably fade significantly in time. However, they will never disappear completely. The recovery rate from breast lift surgery is rapid, with most patients being able to return to work within one week. It is important to avoid strenuous activity, such as lifting, bending, or stretching for about a month.
As with all cosmetic surgery, results will be rewarding if expectations are realistic. As with any surgery, there are some risks which your doctor will discuss with you.
The following breast lift before-and-after photos will give you a sense of the results Dr. Blau has achieved in mastopexy surgery. However, each patient is unique and previous results are not a guarantee for individual outcomes.
